DUBBO REGIONAL COUNCIL NON-POTABLE WATER PIPELINE PROJECT

DUBBO, NSW | DUBBO REGIONAL COUNCIL (JONISHAN)

$16M ($1M) | JUL 2020 - JAN 2021

Allstar’s client Jonishan was awarded the tender to design and construct the non-potable pipeline project – a key element of the Water for the Future Strategy that aims to bolster water security in the Dubbo region during drought. Jonishan’s scope included the construction of a 20km non-potable water pipeline throughout Dubbo to transfer groundwater from the city’s established recreational bores to the John Gilbert Water Treatment Plant. Allstar provided project management resources to assist with design development and to manage the design team.

OUR SCOPE:

  • 20km pipe network installation using techniques including road and rail thrust bores, HDD creek crossings, open cut creek crossings and high-pressure gas main crossings

  • Trenching, laying and backfilling O-PVC pressure pipe varying in size from single DN300 to dual DN450 through road verges and residential streets

  • Installation of inline flanged isolation valves, air valves, scour valves and associated concrete thrust blocks

  • Road verge, concrete driveway and asphalt road restoration as works progressed

  • Stakeholder management, authority liaison and approvals

HIGHLIGHTS/CHALLENGES:

  • Developed and submitted application to ARTC to obtain approval to underbore live rail corridor at two locations within key program milestones

  • Developed key relationships and provided outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication with multiple stakeholders along the pipeline route to streamline delivery: ARTC, APA, Jemena, Roads & Maritime Services, business owners, residents, sports facilities, education institutes, clubs and various departments of Dubbo Regional Council
